The U.S. State Department said an additional $20 million in aid will be added to the $15 million the United States has already pledged for nations hit by the tsunamis. (Translation: the US is pledging $35 million.)
...from the Associated Press, about the upcoming Presidential Inaugural Ball:
Jeanne Johnson Phillips, chairwoman of the 55th presidential inaugural committee, said U.S. inaugurations allow the country to "paint a picture of democracy" and "stand together regardless of politics" - and that this event will be no different in that respect. (Translation: the US is spending about $40 million.)
$100,000 dead people, or a party for yourself? Priorities, priorities. Nice.
