CNN.com The MareNostrum was booted up yesterday in a chapel in Barcelona, Spain. It is Europe's fastest supercomputer which means that it "boasts 40 teraflops of speed,
which in layman's terms means it can make more calculations than a
human pecking at a calculator could make in 10 million years."
"Its memory is equal to the combined memories of nearly 20,000 personal computers, and its storage system has a capacity of 233 terabytes, the equivalent of the information that could be found in 29 million books."
So... imagine.. how much porn can be put on that computer and how fucking lightning fast it would play. shit ! i would for sure have to rename it the malenostrum. haha!
That's wicked cool... but unless it's running validity checks against the so-called Bible Code, what the heck is a supercomputer doing in a chapel in Barcelona? Interesting name, "Our Sea," aka the Mediterranean. Wonder why they chose to call it that... It's very postmodern, in a Name-Of-The-Rose-meets-Mission-Impossible kind of way. When you're done using it for porn, I want to see how it handles Doom 3. :)
