I think it is about time I move this blog a little more forward in something that I have been thinking about the last two weeks or so.  I mainly have been dragging my feet because I couldn't find an image to use as the link and icon for this new idea, lol.  Once a month, on the last day of the month, I am going to blog about all of the music that is in constant spin in my iPod and iTunes.  I am calling it Spinning.  Basically I will provide an entry on to what I basically have been obsessed with musically for that month.  Granted it changes weekly hourly but I think this is a good enough time to tell you what I think you should download, asap.  I will also be adding a link banner to the left side of my blog to bring you directly to the previous entries, once there is some.  Also, itunes has them all.  Or feel free to find them elsewhere.  I have provided links when I find them interesting, haha.

Chicago - If You Leave Me Now.  This started me to mega download every hit of the 80s, lol.  I heard it recently when I watched some crap Ashton movie where he and some girl belt it out in a car in the middle of Northern California and then I became obsessed with it when I was in work two days later and heard it on XM.  Needless to say, I downloaded it, thanks to Acquisition (an Apple safe downloading program).

Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek. This song basically "aired" during the Season Finale of the OC last year, or maybe the year before now that I think about it?  No, I think it was last year, haha.. I had a boyfriend at the time, sigh.  Anyways, it is a total fucking awesomely hypnotic song by itself and if you get the Gabriel and Dresden mix, then it is just dripping in awesomeness, haha.

The Human Resource cd by DJ Diesel.  This is some serious breakbeat, hard, funked up music.  It is awesome to zone out with. 

Brittany Murphy - Hello Pussycat.  I first heard this song, remixed by someone or another (Oakenfold or Rauhofer, one of them) when I went to Rise a few weeks back.  It is a totally hot track and I could possibly see it being the heavy rotation of the summer, though a little early. 

Rihanna - SOS remix.  There are some club mixes out there which are hotter than just the single so try to find one, lol.  Also could be the hit of the summer, though a little early.  I never paid much attention to this chick until this song though.  It makes me want to dance, especially when on the elliptical, lol.

Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.  I will give Tom total credit for mentioning this song to me since usually it is me providing cultural help.  He deserves it, this song is kickass, especially if you are about to jump off a scary cliff in your life.   Though I know I have many safety nets of people, this song is hitting me hard.  Nearly shed tears when I hear it.

Hide Away - Rock Kills Kid.    Another song and band created by the OC.  Just puts you in a happy mood, it is very much a melancholic summer song to me for some reason, it just seems to go along with a wheat beer and a joint, lol, and your friends sitting around you.  I love the repetitive beating of the drum.

Forever Young - Youth Group.  Again, another OC song but I dunno, I am just loving these bands.  "Hoping for the best but expecting the worse.  Let us live forever.  Life is a short trip.  Can you imagine when this race is run?"  Yah, this song is the perfect Zen Buddhist moment.  Fucking perfect actually, birthday 25 ... I welcome you ;)

Galvanize by Chemical Brothers is just hot.  I don't really have more words though.  It is nice and angry.

How could we let it slip away?  We've come too far to leave it all behind.  How could we end it this way? 

Birthday in Vegas

I am flying to Vegas right now for my birthday celebrations, lol.  I am turning 25 kill me on May 29th (Memorial Day in the US) I and wanted to warm up since it has been a pretty chilly Spring in Boston.  So I am taking my Brasilian square cut, new tattoo, some reading material, and my new cam to this city of 105 degrees.  I have been to this totally fucked up city once before but since then a lot has been happening in the restaurant industry here and I want to join in on some of the delicious festivities, lol.  Like Bouchon, my bday dinner.  Or Okada, in the Wynn.  I will definitely be blogging about this whole trip when I get back, later in the week, but until then, have a great Memorial Day Weekend, think of me on my birthday, and I will try to get some goodies on here for you all once I get to Vegas :)

DaVinci Code

I saw DaVinci Code last night. I walked in knowing that the movie was heavily canned by all critics from Boston to Mars but I could care less this time. The movie is from Hollywood (point 1 on why it doesn't matter) and is more a social moment in the U.S. than something to bring out movie critics for. Sorta like Brokeback Mountain actually, lol... sorry, I couldn't help myself. I didn't expect it to be three hours and when I could taste my urine rising, I was getting a little antsy so the last 45 minutes of the movie seemed excruciatingly slow. I did however like it. I thought it was fun and entertaining, especially when they are running around Paris and the Louvre. I do however agree entirely with the following sentence which I think I heard from some critic or another. "Rarely ever does watching a movie take longer than reading the book." haha!

I also watched The Family Stone with Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Keaton, Claire Danes and some other people not worth mentioning and well.. it was shitty. Though I watched all 2 hours of it hoping for them to make it better, lol.

The Weekend of the Tattoo

I flew to NYC last Friday morning and had a truly great day, minus the severe thunderstorm that had us stranded inside at Pace Wildenstein (an art gallery) in Chelsea and the hellish cab ride to Logan airport in Boston which is when my cabbie took off the sideview mirror of a womans car as she was sitting in it!  It eventually turned out sunny, warm, and beautiful but by then we were done looking at art and eating.  The only thing worth talking about is Richard Serra's new show at Gagosian which is just truly spectacular.  These huge honking metal sculptures which you can walk around, in, and have chemical rusting that looks like a Pollock painting are just as I said.. spectacular.  J and I had lunch in a little place on W14 and 7th that was like a lunch we shared in a little restaurant in Paris.  We had the three course lunch which was delicious and ate in a nearly empty restaurant (also like Paris since we arrived lated, it was after 2pm ... a no no in dining in France) as the sun started shining.

I shared two firsts Friday, and I am sure just two of many to come in this city, but for the first time ever, I met a friend in NYC without being with someone else to get there.  Does that make sense?  I met him alone is what I mean.  I also rode the subway by myself, rocking to my iPod mind you, for the first time ever.  I only went one stop the incorrect way before realizing I was going downtown instead of up (stupid mistake it seems) but for some reason the 3 train was weird.. but I quickly fixed the problem and got where I was going.  TOTALLY exciting from my view, sorry.. I know it might seem lame but these are two huge firsts to me.  NYC's subway has always confused the fuck out of me and because of that it has been intimidating.

So yah, HUGE... and since I am doing it all myself for once, it seems totally awesome and nearly perfect that I got a tattoo on Saturday in the LowerEastSide of a heraldic lion (I mentioned my interest in getting one awhile back).   Needless to say, it was fucking awesome, and looks fucking awesome.  I am so psyched!  I already want more, I think my idea of one on each hip is next.  The pain is not that bad, lol.    It is sorta hot actually, haha...honestly!     While waiting to be whisked off to Fire Island since after getting a tattoo you sorta want to eat and sleep which hit me basically a few hours later than normal, I bonded with the tattooist girl and learned that she also paints so it was cool.  I am planning on going back to get more in August, I think.  M showed up with the puppie and we drove right into obnoxious traffic on some highway through Brooklyn and Queens and then the L.I.E.  After a car ride, a boat ride, and a walk, we ended up at his fabulous house in the Pines on Fire Island for my FIRST EVER (yes, haha.. there are still virginal moments) trip to Fire Island.  My instant thought was that there is no comparison between Fire Island and Ptown, other than homo's frequent both.  They are two entirely different experiences.  Ptown is much more commercial and built up, much more jam packed with people (especially woman) yet still super beautiful once you trek to the beaches, or the woods, or DickDock, lol.  I love that you can't drive on the island.  I love the way people walk around on boardwalks and at night they carry flashlights.  The whole walking down the paths at night is just like a fuckfest waiting to happen and even though I witnessed nothing, I still think it is incredibly hot.  The only thing negative I would have to say about the island is that it is UBER-UBER rich.  It makes Ptown look like a hick middle class slum.  It is a little discomforting actually but I do think it just takes some getting used to.

I met M's best friend, the oh so adorable French boy from Lyon, and their boyfriends, one of whom is the architect for the supposedly dreamy waterfall water fountain in the new  Norman Forster building in Manhattan.  I am getting tired of meeting boys with boyfriends though, lol.  We had a candlelit dinner with music by the French group Gotan Project (they did a lot of the music in SATCity when they go to Paris) and food created by a truly talented chef.  The food was was noticeably great at dinner but incredibly so at brunch when he created blueberry pancakes like no other.  I am still drooling.  At about the time I was supposed to be crashing thanks to the tattooing, I changed and went to the Sip and Twirl which is basically the only bar on FireIsland, or in the Pines at least, I guess.  I am in love with Mary J's "Can't Be Without You" remix.  haha.. the whole thing was funand just hysterical.  The whole bar was sooooo random, yet the music was... haha.. better than most places in Boston.  Even though the bar felt like you were in a remote town in the middle of nowhere, which I guess sorta is true, it's packed with every boy from Manhattan (nearly like the whose who actually) ... and still better than CCafe in Boston, Boston's main gay shithole bar. 

And even though we got stuck in mindnumbing traffic on the way back to the city, and that I had to run to my gate (for the first time ever, lol), it was a spectacular weekend filled with lots of firsts, lol.

As much of an obsession as I have .... two ipods, macbookpro, hifi speakers and counting.... and even though I did see the line which I didn't wait in ... this is ABSURD. It is only a store people. Apple.COM works equally as well, lol.
