And so the weekend of inebriated debauchery has past us by. In a state with homo's marrying by the dozens (than tricking on manhunt by the thousands), a beachside town with a "dick dock," a retarded uber conservative Governor, and a very pro-gay Mayor, there is no wonder why this town was WILD right now. Throw in Junior Vasquez, BBQ's, pre-gaming parties, pot brownies, pineapple mojito's, blueberry basil martini's, and well, here we go. Shiny Disco Balls! My lil pre-gaming events were fun until Brian decided to rummage through my shelves to find some random Manhunt jockstrap I have had "lying around" and as the picture at the bottom shows, proceeded to wear it around the apartment. One could say, one too many brownies but I guess one shouldn't talk, since I thought I had aliens coming out from behind my knees. And yes, I am eating brownies in that picture.
But then throw in the rain which
washed the caked makeup off the drag queens and made the parade and block party a little less than desirable. I still trekked to the parade, though my interest barely held long enough to have a condom thrown at me. My friend Eric sums it up best over at his
blog, however: Pride in Boston is less intense than it used to be. I think it is the price subcultures pay for shifting more towards the mainstream. As acceptance and tolerance grows the fringe and chaotic forces tend to calm down a bit. As they accept us a bit more, we start accepting them. They get meterosxuals, we get gay marriage. The price of assimilation is this nostalgia.
If not for Junior Vasquez Saturday night, the weekend would have been an entire bust. The place sold out and was rocking well before eleven. It was hot. And it was probably the last time I will hang out with all of my
Boston friends in one place in Boston which almost brought tears when they played "Last Dance" (tears) though thankfully it was followed by S.O.S otherwise I might have slit my wrists, lol. Throw in some all night porn watching thanks to deciding not to head to an afterhours, a Block Party on Sunday in SUNNY weather (surprising for people in the Northeast at this point) and some good ole Italian food Sunday night and I was asleep like a baby at about 8, lol. Though I was supposed to be out dancing with my friends for the closing party. I guess I am getting old because sleep just sounded better, lol.
I had to poach some pics, since I didn't take my camera out anywhere and since I think Gary is adorable and also takes good pics, I am taking his. Check out his blog for his Boston Pride weekend stories too. The following are from the Block Party on Sunday.
<- the BlockParty was packed thanks to the sun shining.
<-- Tracy Young was so cute. I wanted to hug her.
< - DJ Jst spinning before Tracy. He was hot, and very good, and I loved his hot lil armband.... haha. I thought he was better than Tracy. He got the crowd super pumped for her to sorta fizzle.
So on to NYC Pride ! And Alegria.
