Spinning : August

August has been a slow month for discovering and obessing over NEW music.  It has kinda been a replay and boredom of the stuff I was listening to in July, with a few exceptions. 

First up is the Global Gathering dance party that happened across the pond in Stratford Upon Avon, England.  I was obsessed with this last year and promised myself I was going to go this year but the whole moving thing for me and my friends threw it all off.  Click on over to that link and you can listen to (streaming) the BBC Radio1.  Bunch of Essential Mixes with Tiesto, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Oakenfold, Gabriel and Dresden and definitely check out Dance Anthems.  And with Audio Hijack, you could save them :)

Second exception is Christina Aguilera's new single "Aint No Other Man"  I kinda dig it though I haven't downloaded it or really listened to it except on people's ring tones, or Therapy (a bar near me).  But I am feeling it, haha.

Third exception is Justin Timberlake.  Even though I am not madly in love with his new single and I hope for dear lord the next few are much better, I downloaded it.

Tony Morans remix of Sun "End of the Earth" is delicious and makes me want to dance, nearly instantly, lol. And Alegria, the first cd, because the party is coming up :)

So yah.  That pretty much sums up what I was listening to in August.  Sorta lame, but oh well.

Addiction

I have definitely found a new addiction and one that should be fulfilled while on an eliptical trainer since this little bit of heaven in a cup just feels wrong while you are eating it.  Like, really REALLY wrong.  Yah, so I had Coldstone ice cream the other night after the Bronx Zoo for the first time.  Joe raved about it and said I needed to try it which was all fun and games until I went last night, by myself, waited in a line out the door (since my local one is Times Square) and then forked over $ 6.50 !! for a fucking medium size bowl of crack ice cream.

I had Strawberry shortcake the first night which is basically sweet cream ice cream mixed in person on the "cold stone" with fresh strawberries, pieces of white cake, fresh whipped cream, and crushed graham crackers.  Last night I had the Monkey bite which is banana ice cream with nuts, chocolate chunks, coconut, fresh bananas and I think that is it.  OMG, heaven.  Like seriously .. I feel like the last two weeks I am discovering lots of things better than sex (which is what I became addicted to in August since well boys in NYC are ... amazingly hot) haha.  So yes, addicted to the Coldstone Creamery, the GYM (oddly enough or not so much once you just reread my last sentence), eating out, and Veronica Mars (the TV show).

I definitely could do without them singing, however.  That is just wrong and tipping (by me) would be considered if they just didn't sing.  haha.

MISSED the plane to Newark - ok this was not so good - United Airlines woman was a double horned beast from the firey places … for a moment I felt a movie quote coming on “Now listen you mullet, why dont you light your tampon and blow up your box, because its the biggest bang you are ever going to get sweetheart” … I refrained … prozac is a truly wonderful invention.

And with that is the newest blog I have been checking in daily on.  There are lots of blogs out there, and lots (nearly 25) that I read daily but this blog has a creator who has also moved to NYC so it is fun to look and see what he is up to on his first few weeks here.  And he is from Down Under so what more could you need ?  haha.. his endless search for a European espresso has finally ended too so hop on over and say congrats or if you want to know where it is.

Israel Accused of War Crimes in Lebanon

Human Rights Group Accuses Israel of War Crimes in Lebanon - New York Times.

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug. 23 — Amnesty International accused Israel on Wednesday of war crimes in its monthlong battle with Hezbollah, saying its bombing campaign amounted to indiscriminate attacks on Lebanon’s civilian infrastructure and population. “Many of the violations examined in this report are war crimes that give rise to individual criminal responsibility,” Amnesty International, the London-based human rights group, said in a report on the Israeli campaign. “They include directly attacking civilian objects and carrying out indiscriminate or disproportionate attacks.”

“During more than four weeks of ground and aerial bombardment by the Israeli armed forces, the country’s infrastructure suffered destruction on a catastrophic scale,” the report said, contending this was “an integral part of the military strategy.”

“Israeli forces pounded buildings into the ground,” the report went on, “reducing entire neighborhoods to rubble and turning villages and towns into ghost towns as their inhabitants fled the bombardments.

“Main roads, bridges and petrol stations were blown to bits. Entire families were killed in airstrikes on their homes or in their vehicles while fleeing the aerial assaults on their villages. Scores lay buried beneath the rubble of their houses for weeks, as the Red Cross and other rescue workers were prevented from accessing the areas by continuing Israeli strikes.”

It seems about right. Like hasn't anyone noticed the lack of standing buildings? Or the fact that Hezbollah was actually providing food and water and now well, people are dieing of thirst and hunger? And the help the United States sent can't do anything because well, Hezbollah controls everything so it get a little tricky to help the civilians when they want Hezbollah in charge and well, we think they are terrorists? Now when is the United States going to be further accused of Human Rights violations. I think we violate about a thousand or so every few minutes.

Another Gay Movie

I went to see Another Gay Movie tonight with my friend Joe and his visiting delectable French friend Nicholas, who is under age.   Well, under legal drinking age, lol.   We went to the Quad cinema near Union Square and given that it was my  first time my only sentence is "Gay Gay Gay Gay Gayyyyyyyyy!"  But maybe that was because of the movie, haha.  Another Gay Movie was pretty funny.  I definitely didn't notice the time going by which is pretty much how I rate movies.  And I definitely got a good laugh, especially with the scene of the "pnp" bottom who wants the high school jock to fuck him bare and as the boy bends over and motions for the dick, highschool boy vomits all over his back.  haha, the theater (and myself) nearly died laughing.  So, I guess I could say that it was better than I expected.  It is really not worth seeing in a theater unless you are in a major metropolitan area with homo's to attend, or Ptown, lol.  The movie had two cute boys to entertain you if you become slightly bored (the high school jock and the adorable wannaBE bottom pictured to the left).  Throw in packed theater full of more cute homo's and well... an evening of fun had by all!

 

And on Wednesday, I trekked all the way (i've learned that for NYorkers, 20 blocks is a no if you are going to trick, lol) to the Bronx to go to the Bronx Zoo with Joe and Nicholas.  After a 45minute subway ride up, where I watched Work Out which is the gym TV show with the hot lipstick lesbian on Bravo.  I went to the zoo a long time ago when I was a little tike and the one noticeable thing at the zoo today was the phenomenol amount of little tikes.  Christ, it was like child heaven.  It was, however, pretty fun.  I like animals, sometimes more than people actually, lol.  The highlights?  Seeing an elephant piss like a fucking waterfall.  Seriously, it was hysterical, like a fireman just opened the fire hydrant.  It went on for like minutes, lol. OMG, it was like a watersports boy's dream, haha.  And the gorilla came unbelievably close to me with it's lil bambino as you can see about to hit the glass.  As did the lion, both photographed with my Chocolate cellphone.  I fuckin forgot my camera, stupidly.  A subway ride back and I am ready for a nap.
