Tom P

Yes, you are quite correct. There is no such thing as gay culture. There is gay commerce, only for the young and rich, full of drugs and drunks and a lot of stuck up people. But people would have to talk to each other and share to have a community. I don't see that and you don't either.

Have you read Hakim Bey? There is no community, no TAZ, as there was perhaps even 5 or 10 years ago in the underground raver culture here in the states. I don't know why that is pretty much over. That is very sad. Europeans and Australians are still partying like its 1995.

Too bad you never hung around Circle/gnomefatty in Boston. I think it had what you say you were looking for, but was always very underground.

I definitely think of this blog and myself as sometimes condescending. And I definitely have had issues with meeting people in Boston but I mostly blame that on the social conservativeness of the region, but the only time I actually am unfriendly to anyone who has ever approached me not knowing me is when they turn out to be an ass. I don't brush people off instantly.

I agree with what you say but there is that line of hypocrisy. I read you on a regular basis, and for the most part enjoy your site, blog and art, however, there are time you get downright condescending. Nobody's perfect. I won't say "you're just like the people you chastise" because A) I don't know you and B) that would be just as condescending.
How do you treat each and every person who approaches or looks your way? Just something we ALL need to think about in 007.
Cheers and Happy New Year.

Hey Frank!!! I know what you mean, That happens pretty much everywhere in the States, here in California is the same, I have noticed tho' that in cities like Chicago and Las Vegas, people are more approachable than NYC or LA... when I look at those "iamagod" guys I always wonder if once you met them you can really see their true colors. Some of the people I have met at the club always say that I look "un-approachable"- and i wonder why, if someone says hi, i will always reply and if i am not interested (for whatever reason) I can politely excuse myself. I just hate those "queens" that think "I am all that" and just brush people off as if they were a mosquito- hehe- Thats something that I hate about our gay community-

...But at the same time, i must say - we are probably guilty of this behaviour-

A Boston Guy

I think it is funny that you picked this as your topic. I don't know you, but know of you from friends of friends. I have been introduced to you and you haven't always been the friendliest or engaging when you met me or other new people.

You are just like the people you chastise in your post.
